At one point, we had one hand that was controlling the forward and lateral movement of the tank and the cannon's elevation on the other. Rotation was controlled by rolling either controller left or right. It was workable but quite clunky and fell by the wayside in the effort to get the game ready for beta.

Hi Colonel_Z, thanks for your report. That's fascinatingly bizarre, we've never heard of anything like that in testing, either internally or externally. Can I ask you to start a support ticket with our community guys so we can get ahold of your system info? Email battlezone.support@rebellion.co.uk (you can use battlezone.oculus.support@rebellion.co.uk or battlezone.vive.support@rebellion.co.uk, whichever it more appropriate, too). If you could include as much detail about your system's specs, setup, etc. (a DXDiag would be brilliant), we'll see what we can do to replicate the problem.

Possibly. We'll certainly try to improve it if we can.

Just thought I'd drop by here to introduce myself - my name's Rich May and I'm the lead programmer on Battlezone. I'll be keeping an eye on the forums as best I can (they make me do work most of the time, annoyingly) and replying where possible. Have fun!

Hi Moist, thanks for replying.

I have a really clear idea for implementing 6DOF touch controllers for hover tanks. If I knocked up a little demo in Unity, you think the Rebellion devs would take a look at it?

Absolutely! As you can imagine, it's something quite close to our hearts. If you could start a support ticket via battlezone.support@rebellion.co.uk, the community guys can work out the best way to get it to us.

Just to clarify, the game is looking for you to hold the "three lines" (sometimes "settings" or the "hamburger") button on the Xbox One pad (equivalent to Start on a 360/PS3 pad or Options on a PS4 pad). We're aware that this is causing confusion (and possibly not working at all for some folks) so we'll see what we can do to make it clearer.

As you've discovered, we don't support keyboard and mouse out the box - a gamepad or controller of some kind is required to play Battlezone. We're not quite sure why SteamVR claims you need a keyboard - I've personally scoured the settings on the Steam setup pages and everything says otherwise. Sounds like we'll have to pester Steam about it.

Regarding the button prompts, they're based on the Xbox One pad, since that's what comes with the Rift, but clearly it's confusing some folks (you guys aren't the first, don't worry!) so we'll have a think and see what we can come up with. The problem is that it's impossible for us to tell the difference between an Xbox One pad, an Xbox 360 Pad and a Steam controller pretending to be an Xbox 360 pad, as they all claim to be the same thing...

We may be able to improve this in future but I suspect it'll be similar to what some other games, i.e. a letterbox cut-out of a single eye, so HUD, etc. may get cut off but it would get rid of the warping and black bars at the expense of resolution. Re-rendering the screen for the mirror window would be costly and hitting 90 FPS is hard enough!

Hi folks, thanks for playing! Mouse and keyboard is something we'd like to get in at some point but has its own issues (steering the tank, for example, becomes a bit of a 'keep having to pick up the mouse over and over' problem, due to the fixed rate of turn). There are workarounds we've been looking into but I don't have any ETA for them right now.

Touch controllers is something we've looked into too, both on Vive, Rift and PSVR. Unfortunately we haven't found a really good way of getting them to work well as all the controllers have different numbers of buttons, sticks, etc. They're certainly something we're keen to do more with in the future though.

We're having a chat about this internally. Unfortunately, there's no easy way to get the data we'd need as things stand. It's a valid point though - there might be hundreds of games running but no games with open slots and it would be a shame if that drove people away.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll take a look and see what's possible - I can't give you any promises but we may be able to include something in a future patch.

Thanks for the feedback, tgrey1, it sounds like a cool idea. We always intended to add more coop-specific mechanics for multiplayer so that might be a good one to investigate. I'll pass it on to the rest of the dev team.

Yep, we've got definite plans in the works for new tanks, weapons and enemy types. We'll announce any new updates here so watch this space.

Love the idea of a moving fortress, by the way!

Hopefully the additional levels and new game mode go someway toward keeping our promise for you. We'll be adding more new levels, weapons, tanks, etc. in the near future, all for free.

As far as unlocking customisation options go in-game, it's something I personally would love to see in the future but I'm not aware of any plans for that at the moment.

The 'hold options to reset' in the demo functions in the same way that it does in the final game. The game will recentre positional tracking (try standing up and resetting it, for example) when you press-and-hold options at any point.

Rest assured, this isn't a resource issue. We're working closely with Sony on the problem and following all their advice and guidelines as best we can.
