I kind of like and understand your thinking.  I too thought it was a new suppressed weapon, rather than another firearm that simply took suppressed ammo.

Agreed the silenced carbine is poor

There should be more silenced rifles only to choose with so many DLC!!

Sniper rifles did not have silencers during World War II. Most sniper rifles of that era were not purposely design sniper rifles, but rather converted battle and hunting rifle. This made any attempts to suppress their noise difficult and especially considering the ammo used was full size supersonic rifle cartridges. For similar reasons silencing machine guns was not followed up and it is questionable whether that would offer any tactical advantage.

The Germans did not show much interest in silenced weapons, but the British Special Operation Executive did. they developed the Welrod pistol with an integrated silencer for use in assassinations by their operatives and agents.  They also produced the best suppressed weapon, the De Lisle carbine. This was a specialist carbine and not a sniper rifle. it fired subsonic pistol ammunition (45 ACP ROUND) and had a effective range of  (200 yards or 185 m) it's Maxium range was ( 400 yards or 365 m)  a shot between 2 and 4 football fields long, not bad for the 45  m1911a1 pistol round but it was very quiet. It was used in a few covert SOE operations.  So why add a silencer to a weapon that did not have silencers back in that time frame.

Please add MORE DLC SNIPER RIFLES AND BETTER ones.

And pay no attention to the post just above.

I agree, but the springfield M1903 had two suppressors Maxim and Moore suppressors:

"Between 1908 and 1910, the Ordnance Bureau purchased 100 Maxim models in .30 caliber as well as another 100 from a chap named Mr. Robert A. Moore. Both of these were by default the M1910 Silencer."

What i don't like with the suppressed ammo in Sniper Elite 4 is that the game adds a suppressor to the rifle or pistol, so if i want to use suppressed ammo i use it with the Springfield M1903, because that is a rifle i know you could get a suppressor for.

Quoted for truth and logic, however - sometimes in a game truth and logic needs to be tossed for reasons to make the game more enjoyable!  I believe this to be one of those times.  I too fall into the camp of those wishing for a optional "DLC" true suppressed sniper rifle so that those of us that want it can buy it.

Rebellion could include a suppressed Springfield M1903 which was used as early as WW1:

Sound suppressors were first introduced to the United States in 1909 by Hiram Maxim, the son of the inventor of the first practical machine gun. He dramatically improved his design in 1910 and silencers became popular amongst back yard sport shooters. The first historical record of the use of silencers by the military was an expedition by Black Jack Pershing in his attempt to capture Poncho Villa. He reportedly brought two M-1903 Springfield rifles equipped with Maxim silencers. There is also evidence that some of these suppressed Springfield rifles were used in WW I, however the nature of the trench warfare did not give any significant advantage to the use of silencers.

Well, there we go!  If the game people want realism, here is their way to justify it AND make us happy both!

Is it just me or is the game getting worst for glitches? On PS4

Sometimes in Death Storm 2 suppressed ammo refills @  all locations , but on no other missions .

Shooter appearances change between saves/missions ,  my shooter from Allagra in white camo jumps to Lorino dock mission
